AnswerWorth
How We Keep Our Calculators Independent
AnswerWorth is designed so calculator results are based on user inputs, visible assumptions, and documented methodology, not on ads, affiliate relationships, sponsors, or commissions.
The calculation layer is separate
Calculation modules are kept structurally separate from advertising and monetization features. The files that calculate affordability, debt payoff, retirement planning, job-offer comparisons, runway, and other results are not allowed to import ad code, affiliate code, sponsor logic, or partner-ranking logic.
What calculation files may use
- user-entered values, such as income, expenses, debt balances, premiums, mileage, savings, and household details
- visible planning assumptions, such as inflation, rate, cost, or timing assumptions shown to the user
- documented formulas, public rules, and reviewed methodology
- internal helper functions for formatting, scoring, math, scenarios, stress tests, and confidence indicators
What calculation files may not use
- advertiser identity
- affiliate status
- sponsor identity
- commission tier
- ad placement state
- partner-ranking or monetization logic
Why this matters
A calculator should not become more favorable to one path because that path might earn revenue. The result should change when the inputs, assumptions, methodology, or scenario changes. It should not change because of who advertises on the site.
How this is enforced
AnswerWorth includes an automated calculator-independence check in the build process. That check scans calculation modules for monetization-related language and fails the build if an unreviewed reference appears. A small number of terms are allowed only where they are genuine decision inputs, such as job-offer commission, real-estate commission, or spouse/partner income.
Ads do not belong in reports
Advertisements may appear on pages, but they are separate from calculator math and are not included in downloadable PDF reports. Reports are meant to preserve the reasoning, assumptions, and results behind a decision, not advertising content.
What this does not mean
This does not mean every estimate is perfect or that every assumption will fit every household. It means monetization is not part of the calculation logic. Users should still review assumptions, verify important facts, and consult qualified professionals before making major decisions.
